Woodlea Chase, Darwen

Woodlea Chase is a domestic extension that transformed the routines and life of a family. Prior to the single storey extension, the kitchen sat within a corridor which linked a small utility/storage room to an oversized dining room. This impacted the whole circulation to the house and segregated family interactions.

We convinced the client a large extension wasn’t needed and a smaller single storey extension with a reworking of the existing layout would be enough. This would ultimately unlock the circulation issues and bring a sense of spatial luxury.

We worked hard to provide a kitchen dining and snug at the rear which became the heart of the house and opened the family up to the rear garden on two sides. New routes to a new office which interlinked back to the front of the house were also introduced.

The home is a home you can get lost in, choose alternative routes to walk around and now enjoy meaningful spaces for large gatherings or intimate moments.
